Job Summary:
The Assistant Driller works under the direction of the Driller to support the safe operation of the rig. Assistant Driller is responsible for ensuring that the drill crew performs in a safe and efficient manner, follows Company policy, and maintains good housekeeping.
Roles & Responsibilities:

Ensure all operations are proceeding in a safe manner, and responsible for correcting or notifying appropriate people of any unsafe acts and/or conditions, which exist.

Attend and participate in pre-tour, post tour, special operations and weekly safety meetings.

Ensure all crewmembers are capable of performing their respective duties within the parameters of company policies.

Ensuring that all employees wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Assist the Driller in completing blowout prevention (BOP) drills, well control sheets, pipe tallies equipment checks (crown saver, motor kills, etc.) as prescribed by company policy.

As a supervisor of the drill crew, instill pride and motivate employees to work safely and lead by example.

Assist the Driller in directing and supervising the drill crew depending upon operations being carried out

The assistant driller is responsible for the measurement of all BHA, Drill pipe and Tubulars that are to be run into and out of the hole.

Assist rig management in planning and preparing for upcoming operations in execution of the client's well program.

Communicate with personnel to develop their skills and motivation for their current position and next promotional position.

Ensure that all personnel are aware of the training requirements laid out by DDSPL in accordance with the training matrix.

Actively participate in DDSPL behavior based safety programs and as a supervisor of a crew encourage participation.

WORKING SCHEDULE: Rotation: Offshore 5x5

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Health, Safety and Environment:

General:

Assist Safety Superintendent to ensure compliance with Company and Project Safety Objectives.

Ensure and promote the use of the Company safety and environment rules (in particular Company Golden Rules)
and specifications throughout the construction works.

Ensures that contractors and Vendors are geared to comply at all times with safety rules and promote the use of
Company Golden rules at Contractor and Subcontractor level.

Specific:

Ensure that HSE is given the highest priority.

Support and implement the Project HSEQ management system (charters, objectives, directives, plans,
procedures, specifications, )

Promotes HSEQ awareness of workforce at all levels through pro-active attitude (site tour management,
HSEQ meetings, incentives actions,) within Project team and Contractors

Monitor work activities, especially potential areas where unsafe acts could occur, and ensure that risks
have been properly identified and assessed prior to work execution (Job Safety Analysis).

Demonstrate a Personal Commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment by:

oLeading by example through the demonstration of Safety Critical Behaviors;

oCompliance with Company Health, Safety & Environmental Regulations;

oCompliance with Corporate Health, Safety & Environment Policy, Plans, Processes and Procedures;

oFulfilling the HSE Training & Competence Requirements for this position.

oInterface with project management on HSE issues

Mentor/Develop personnel in the workplace on all HSE matters

Duties:

Ensure awareness of and compliance with HSE rules and regulations by subordinates and contractors.

Participate to Work Permit system (assistance to supervisors, site checks, tool box talks).

Supervise operations as per Safety Superintendent requests (initial validation, permanent watch ).

Perform regular audits and inspection of operations and installations.

Ensure that all Hazardous material are kept in proper conditions and safely used.

Perform regular Task Observation to identify good and bad practices.

Take part in Job Safety Analysis preparation.

Provide data to the Safety Superintendent in order for him/her to keep updated the Action track system
regarding all construction related items,

Ensure proper reporting, USOCS collect and analysis, highlighting critical issues to the project management
and proposing remedial actions.

Member of Site Emergency Response Teams

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND:

Good practice of Work Permit Systems in remote and live area (SIMOPS between Construction and Production)

Diploma or certificate in safety management is desirable.

Skilled in basics HSE Training (1st aid, Fifi, Driving, Lifting, etc.)

Knowledge of international safety legislation is an advantage.

3 - 5 years experience related to offshore construction projects or other relevant experience.

Knowledge of audit/inspection techniques and procedures.

Fluency in written and spoken English.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Fluent in English (Both spoken & written)
